BSW - CAA - Maya Farm Scene

Farm Scene In Progress Bellow is the in progress farm scene I have at the moment. I have got all the models done and positioned on the plain. What's left to do is to texture and light the scene. I am enjoying modelling the scene as I am figuring out how to solve problems more independently without the use of the tutorial videos or asking a tutor. As I get to know the software more and more I also need to follow the videos less to know what to do next...

BSW - CAA - Street Scene Matte Painting Development

Matte Painting Development I like the stage that this matte painting is as it resembles the same features as the original digital drawing of the street scene which is what I wanted. The Matte painting will serve as the background of the scene and in the end you will only be able to see around 30% of the painting. I am probably going to update the painting after feedback I get so another blog post will be made on that!

BSW - CAA - Maya Street Scene Development - 2

Maya Main Building I had a lot of fun building the main building of the street scene. It took a lot quicker however as it sits in the far background of the scene so I only had to model the front face of it. The only trouble I ran into whilst creating this building was the smoothing again. Its frustrating because I know how and when to do it but when I'm in the flow of modelling I forget.   I like the look of what I have done so far for the street scene and I am looking forward to making the rest.

BSW - CAA - Maya Street Scene Production Problems - 1

Maya House Problems Here you can see that the roof overhang does not math the orthograph. This is because the other side of the roof overhang does math so to be symmetrical the side shown has to not match the orthograph. This is because whilst drawing the orthographs I didn't make sure that the overhang was equal on each side resulting in this problem I had. Although, this did not effect my work in any way.  Here you can see that the top view orthograph does not match the model. This is because the model matched the front and side perfectly so I'm not sure what went wrong whilst drawing them as I used the guides to match them. I was sure not to scale them all differently but that seems to have happened. This has not effected the model in any way however this is a point I will make sure to take into my next work. Here you can see the mistake I have made with the lack of edge loops in my work. Some geometry in my model has collapsed due to it. This is an easy fix however for m...

Maya House Below are the images of the production of my house to eventually make up my final modelled street scene. The images are in order and stop at the point of  the house model being finished, untextured and UV's not done!  I really enjoyed creating the model for the house as I think it is a lot more exciting to model your own design and create something that no one has created before! I did not require any assistance whilst making the house and this is because I applied all the knowledge I gained form previous lessons and tutorials.  On another blog post I will mention the problems I ran into and provide images of them...

BSW - CAA - Matte Painting Ideas and Production

Matte Painting Production Below are images of my initial matte painting production. In the first image you see I am explaining where the painting will be and what I will be trying to achieve with it. Since I already have a solid looking sky in my final digital street scene that I like the look of. I will be working from it to trying to keep it as similar as possible with some updates including brighter starts, or introducing perspective to better shaped clouds... The image below is of an adjustment layer experiment I did using the original sky as a base. I wanted to see if I could find a better look for the sky as simply as adding adjustment layers. You can see on the image what changes I made to each sky. I thought I wanted a sky with some dark coloured hue to it however I have ended up liking the most either the vibrancy or the brightness and contrast adjustments. Overall I think I will go for the darker sky of the B+C layer but add separate B+C to the stars and clouds making them st...

BSW - CAA - Detail Production 2

Detail Production Below shows the photoshop drawing on the extra details I will include in my final modelled scene. The fishing rod resembles an antique rod from the 1800's and I think this best fits the old mystical feel of my city. I don't think a modern kitted out rod would fit the scene at all. The weather vane sits on top of the roofs facing the direction of the way the wind is blowing and obviously in my final model they will all be facing the same way also matching the ribbons that are flowing with the wind.

BSW - CAA - Throwing Animations

Throwing Animations Below are the GIF's for the throwing animation task that we completed yesterday. I enjoyed making these however they were a lot more challenging then the others. Looking back at what I have done, I am happy with the motions I have created however I see where I went wrong on the speed. On the first animation with anticipation, the character raises his arm quick but going to throw the ball, it appears to slow down and that is because I added too small of a movement in between frames which slows it down. The second animation is a guy throwing the ball without anticipation (effort). he stands still with out bending or springing his body to throw the ball far or with speed therefore, the ball only travels a short distance. I put the character small to the left as I wanted to make the viewer think the ball will go far however they will be disappointed to see the short distance it travelled which is quite funny.                  ...
