BSW - CAA - Invisible Cities Thumbnails

Invisible Cities Thumbnails

These images show the drawings that I have completed for the 100 thumbnails task for the invisible cities project.

I enjoyed this task and spent time researching source images and reference for each city to make the thumbnails show good detail and artistry. Some cities I found challenging as a result of the lack of information given. I had to dig deep into my imagination to create drawings based on the information that I had. I found the best way to do this task is to pick out each small annotation and draw a interpretation of it even if its not the city itself. This gave me more freedom of what I could draw and add smaller details to create context for the cities. For example drawing 29 shows what I thought an overhead view of the city would be as the city consists of both land and water.

The one digital image shows the digital drawing I did at first! I wanted to see what would be more efficient for me to do. I found I was being way too nit picky with the digital drawings and spent to long on them for them just to be quick thumbnails however I do really like the look of them.

Overall this task went really well and I am happy with the outcome and happy with the minimal problems I faced. The only thing really problematic was a personal issue where in places it was hard to find the motivation to carry on after 20-30 drawings!

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
