BSW - CAA - Life Drawing L2

Life Drawing Lesson 2

The second lesson of our life drawing classes went way better then last time!
This Monday we turned up to our class as normal and this time there was the life model there to draw. This meant that I could confidently draw, knowing that the life drawing would be what it should be.

I feel like I did really well in these drawings. The first four images are of the first drawing we had done in the lesson all only 1 minute each! After the first drawing I realised I was making the same mistake as before and was drawing too small. I increased the size that I was drawing and immediately noticed the difference. The first drawings are somewhat accurate for a minute portrait so I was happy with the outcome.

The fifth image is one where we had a few minutes to complete however we had to use continuous line. This is obviously where you can not remove the charcoal from the paper as it would break that continuous line. I feel as though this task went really well as I got a good form and shape of the body representing the life model well.

The last two images are the final 30 minute drawings where we had to get the best accurate representation of the model in the time we had. I feel as though these drawings are really good however I need to work on the faces of my drawings. When I get to the point of doing the faces I try to avoid it at all cost! Its not that extreme but the thing I am worried about is messing up the whole piece if the face doesn't look right. The face is the thing I feel peoples eyes are first drawn towards and if that face is not correct then the drawing is ruined no matter how good!

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
