BSW - CAA - Life Drawing L3

Life Drawing Lesson 3

This is the drawings from the third lesson in our life drawing sessions. Again, the life model was not in for this session so we had to do student drawings. The first image is the warm up task that we had to do that I found quite fun. We had to use negative space to represent the objects in front of us, so we had to map out the shapes in between the objects rather then the objects themselves. I added light shading by pulling out the charcoal with my finger to show the negative area in the drawing.

The other images are of the drawings of the student models that volunteered to sit. Each drawing was around 15 minutes in length and was quite happy with the efficiency I could map out the shapes of the figure. I am definitely getting way more used to using the angles and form of the body also by using the method of holding up the medium to the model and holding the angles and transferring them to the paper! I never used to understand this method but our tutor is a talented artist and explains methods in detail...

The last image is of the last drawing we did and after noticing again that I didn't complete faces in the previous drawing I wanted to try to focus on the face and immediately was not happy with how it was turning out so I decided to make the piece way more loose then usual. Again I was not happy with it from the get go and I think that shows compared to my other work of the lesson!

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
