BSW - CAA - Maya Street Scene Complete

 Maya Street Scene Complete

Here is the final, complete image of my street scene for the 'What If Metropolis' project. I am really happy with how this have turned out and it gives the effect I wanted it to give from the vision I had from the start! I have successfully followed my concept art and improved the image where needed.

The lighting in the scene is just where it is supposed to be and creates a really nice ambience and a homely, lived in feel to the city. The details in the scene like the weather vanes, crates, fishing rods etc. all pop and add to the depth of the story you see visually in the scene.

I really like how my buildings have turned out and how smooth and accurate they are compared to the concept art. The main hero building gives the scale and impact to the scene that I wanted. All the colours in my scene go together nicely as there is no drastic contrast in them. They all follow the woody colours that the city is made from and the bright pink hanging lanterns contrast really well with the objects in the scene. The lights in the windows gives the glowing effect I wanted and makes the buildings have life in them.

I have put my original concept art to show a comparison between that and my final rendered scene.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
