BSW - CAA - Character Design - Props and Surroundings

Character Design - Props and Surroundings

Today we had the second lecture on character design and explored the props and surrounding and their functions and forms. This means we looked at how props relate to the character and how it follows its function. For example, a sword would be sharp and follow a theme of a character, or a house for a villain would not traditionally be bright and colorful... We were given a character and had to draw items associated with him, making sure they followed form. Then we drew the play they may stay, making sure it followed function. I enjoyed this exercise and went in with a more open mind also learning small tips on drawing in 3D. We are going to do a lesson in 3D drawing and perspective in the future. For this lesson, we worked traditionally which was nice as I have been working digitally a lot recently.

My Character was a cyberpunk detective.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
