BSW - CAAyr2 - Object Design Task

 Object Design Task

On Friday Justin had us do a small task involving drawing an object. The reason for this was to understand the power of research before a drawing is done to understand and know that object.

I was given a traffic wardens hat and started to draw what came up on google. Once Justin came round to me he noticed that I was trying to polish the drawing instead of just understanding the shape of the object. I realised that he was right and I had to try and make sense of the different forms of the object at different angles to understand it, rather than going straight for a finished product. I will take this lesson into the work as I progress.

The second drawing is of a torn-up hat trying to give story to the object. Even though the hat has a good story and mystery to it, it doesn't give a lot of personality which is something that I will need to give my objects for the character bible!

The third drawing is just further exploring the shape which is also what I was doing with the last drawing, exploring the shape theories within the logo of the hat to give personality to it.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
