BSW - CAAyr2 - Dissertation Proposal Progression 1

 Dissertation Proposal Progression 1

I have been thinking about my proposal after the lecture with Katie Mander the other day, deciding on my question. I think what I want my question to be is, 'How are tattoos accepted into different social constructs?'

I will be conducting interviews with different people who I know either like or dislike tattoos and ask them questions to find out why this is the case. My grandad for example hates tattoos however his daughter, my mum loves them and has many. after taking interviews I could create a chart or a graph showing different ages and whether they like them or not.

Other things that I will be looking at include a tv show called 'needles and pins' hosted by artist Grace Neutral that looks at tattoos in different cultures, gangs, races, etc., and how they have come to be who they are using tattoos. For example, gangs in japan have o keep the tattoos covered as it is illegal however they are actually mostly covered in full back pieces, etc.

I will be looking into articles and books focusing on how tattoos are accepted and also reading into maybe others' experiences with getting tattoos.

I could look into and compare tattoo acceptance of the world wars to the times.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
