I finished a 1-1 with Umut and It really helped me with the direction of my proposal. I already knew what I wanted to do with the subject of my essay however I lacked the direction of where to go next. I found that after my last essay that I can not go too broad with my subject, like time...
I wanted to do something with tattoos, so Umut gave me a structure to follow for my research. I need to first research the origins of tattoos to set the theme then go into my question. This is going to be to do with prison tattoos and how they affect convicts getting jobs. But then I need to then find a specific job role. At first, being this specific confused me as I thought I could not possibly write a dissertation of 8000 words on something that specific.
My question will be complete when I find that specific job role...

Institution work assignments include employment in areas like food service or the warehouse, or work as an inmate orderly, plumber, painter, or groundskeeper.
- They work to maintain the jail – for example, cleaning landings, maintaining grounds and gardens, or working in the kitchens and laundries.
- They do mundane and repetitive work for external companies that have contracts with the prison. This could be tasks such as bagging nails, putting bits of plastic in fruit boxes, packing headphones, stuffing envelopes and assembling simple electrical components
- The work in more specialist workshops with more complex production tasks. These are mainly for external companies but can also be used in the prison. This might be for example making window frames and furniture, plastic household goods, and light engineering. Prisoners may staff a Call Centre and can also do highly specialist work, like graphic design.
- Prisoners are also been employed in specialist roles with more responsibility, for example in prisoner housing departments or as volunteer drug workers. People in Detention Centres may also do highly specialized work such as translation. They may also do things like catering in prison enterprises such as restaurants for the public.
