BSW - CAAyr3 - Testing different modelling processes

 Testing different modelling processes

Todays lesson with V included a lot of learning for me personally. My way that I have always know to model is to do pretty much everything manually as a result of not only being thought that by Simon but thinking that it will get me more marks in the end. This however is not the case. I learned mainly about the boolian operation in maya, learning how to cut in shapes and re topologies them in the best way.

Above you can see the difference of the two processes, the more crisp harder edged geometry is my usual process requiring more polys. Then the second is a piece of geometry using the crease tool the made the edges appear sharper without adding any more polys. This method is useful when building a model in the earlier stages as you will have a lot more freedom to move and change the model. Then when you are happy, if taking the model further, you would then implement the sharper technique adding more geometry.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAA - Finches Concept Art - In progress

Finches Concept Art - In progress I have been continuing the finches piece after the research I carried out and I have finished another finch. I have done this one in a more cartoony style as I am exploring my choices for the animation. It has bold, consistent lines and boxed colours to make it pop and it has a big eye that makes it stand out. As of now, I am swaying towards the cartoon style more as I feel like a video for educational purpose, it will draw more people in...
