BSW - CAA - Updated Story Plot

Updated Story Plot After my initial notes on my stories direction I wanted to research and refine my ideas into clearer points so it is easier to understand where I want to be as a viewer and to myself to ensure I have a clear view on what to do. Don't mind the informal writing, I wanted to condense the notes down from my ideas. Military man sees object on radar from a base showing the co ordinates satellite cameras show that it is a threat Scene traveling to coordinates with the bomb / cannon  once there scene showing the ship / object high in the sky, transporting the artifact / virus into the lighthouse. Flies away at lightspeed into the sky Scene showing bomb / cannon roll out of the Heli to be set up to fire. Lighthouse glowing with the danger. The danger sits where the light would be so it is easily seen by viewer. Stuntman hops out of the Heli looking 'cool' ready for a the dangerous task  the radars and scanners of the military are going mad with spikes. shows a...

BSW - CAA - Story Board

Story Board This is the story board for my animation. It shows the main scenes that will occur in the story and hopefully portrays a clear direction I want the story to go in. The drawing is not the best but I always have the problem of going to in detail so this was a real practice for me to let go of my perfectionist attitude. I like how the story board has turned out and I like the detail added to show the clear intentions of the story.

BSW - CAA - Photoshop Tutorial

Photoshop Tutorial Here is my final image for the textured 2D scene we had to do for Chrissies photoshop tutorials. I will put the original untextured one for comparison. I enjoyed doing this as I got to sharpen up my skills in photoshop and got to be creative in the way I worked.

BSW - CAA - Sound Design Artist Research

Sound Design Artist Research - Alien : Covenant Oliver Tarney is a sound designer that worked on the film 'Alien : Covenant '. Oliver also worked on many films to do with space before including 'The Martian' where the project of 'Alien : Covenant' was first discussed. For the environment for the planet they are on Ridley Scott - director of the film - had requirements that there would be no birds, no animals, nothing. This gave the effect that Scott wanted, complete silence to show the audience that there was no other life then the crew. Oliver said " We then added just enough icy winds, eerie tree creaks, and patter of rain on leaves to offer the plausibility that there could still be something tracking them as they venture further away from the Lander ." For the sounds of the Xenomorph, they wanted to have sounds that more represent power and presence. Unlike the before films where the Alien was more stealthy so it had more of a hissing sound. This i...

BSW - CAA - Initial Story Reference Images

Initial Story Reference Images   Below are images I have researched that relate to my story. I am getting together many images that can help in the direction of my animation, story wise and content wise. They can help for example what size or shape I want my lighthouse to be or what scenery around the lighthouse I want.

BSW - CAA - Story Initial Ideas

Story Initial Ideas For the story unit we have been given three random things to make up our story. A character, a setting, and a prop. We have to include all three of these things as the main subject of our story.  My character is a stuntman, my setting is a lighthouse and my prop is a bomb.  I instantly had a couple ideas to link these things together. These ideas include; The bomb is shot out of a cannon / catapult at the lighthouse to destroy it. The stuntman is riding on the bomb as it flies to control it into the lighthouse. The whole scene could be a movie scene so there are cameras and lights behind the scenes and this adds context as to why the bomb is being shot at the lighthouse, it is for a film! The idea of a film scene also opens up a lot of camera ideas that will make more sense for the animation. I have come up with a few reasons as to which the lighthouse is getting destroyed. These reasons include; Villains are attacking the lighthouse and the only way...

BSW - CAA - Soundscapes Project Images

Soundscapes assigned Images The images below are the images that were assigned to me using the random number generator in todays briefing. I have an idea of each images sound and what things around my house I will use. Image 1 This to me looks like a splash. So I will be recording different liquid splashes using thick and thin liquids as I feel this image shows more of a thick object. The colours are quite tropical so I might use the sounds of a beach in Hawaii etc. The texture of the image looks quite reptilian so I may use sounds of lizards or snakes paired with the other sounds. Maybe the sound I will produce will be a splash followed by a splash of different sounds in a wave like 'motion'. Image 2 There is not a lot going in this image. I get a feeling of wind or more of a swooshing motion. This implies a wind like gust sound. I get warm colours here, some of which correspond to a fire therefore I may add a slight fire sound backing the gusts. The image shows an empty pla...

BSW - CAA - What If Metropolis Reflective Statement

Reflective Statement Overall, this project has been a huge turning point in my skills and knowledge of the course subject - computer animation arts. I have gained a lot in Maya, Photoshop, Illustrator and gained in my skills in my ability to write and blog. I feel as though my time management has been really good this project and kept to a plan throughout my modelling, texturing, UV's and lighting. I have really enjoyed it all so far and am exited to bring all the gained knowledge into our next projects.

BSW - CAA - Maya Street Scene Art of

Maya Street Scene Art of Here are a series of images showing the production of my street scene. The images are key points in the process. It is really nice to see the process and the images coming together in a chronological order. You can see the objects in the scene bleed into one another as the scene progresses.
