BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Objects - Soft Room

Maya Pre Viz Objects - Soft Room This is the soft room that will be seen at the end of the pre viz animation. The room looks like it would be soft and padded and It was really simple to create with simple extrusions. I haven't added any texture to this as with the light it gives the dark, insane feel that I wanted.

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Objects - Army Briefing Room

Maya Pre Viz Objects - Army Briefing Room This is the army room modelled for my pre viz animation. The viewers will see this scene when the stuntman is briefing his squad on the plan to defeat the terrorists. The plans will be shown on the whiteboard. I like the simplicity and professional look of this room compared strongly to the dark broken room of the terrorists.

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Objects - Terrorist Base

Maya Pre Viz Objects - Terrorist Base This is the modelled terrorist base I have created for my pre viz animation. This will be the first place people will see in the animation. The modelling for this scene is very simple but effective. I mainly have used the texture and light to get across that this is a dark, dingy place so that the viewer can instantly see that this isn't a good place.

BSW - CAA - KitBash Challenge

KitBash Challenge Today we were given the kit Bash challenge hosted by Tom and Meg. We had a load of assets to chose from and we had to use them to create and texture and finally render a robot. I had a lot of fun doing this as it gave me a break from the project work we have been doing. I think my robot looks really good and I used a lot of tools to get the different results hopefully being a bit more unique compared to others work! My robot has a machine gun as one arm and a rotating hammer as the other whilst the main part of his body is a mouth. As he rolls along on his wheels the lights that also act as teeth flash whilst his mouth continuously chomps causing his prey fear. Hence the name Chomper!

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Objects - Inside Lighthouse

Maya Pre Viz Objects - Inside Lighthouse This is the modelled inside of my lighthouse. This scene will be used multiple times for showing the terrorists inside the the lighthouse holding the lighthouse keeper hostage. I have added simple lambert textures on the objects also making the windows slightly transparent hopefully giving a really nice effect when I finally do the animation.

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Objects - Inside Chinook

Maya Pre Viz Objects - Inside Chinook This is the modelled scene for the inside of the chinook. It will show at the point of seeing the Squad inside the chinook with the bomb. I like how this scene has turned out how it focuses on the main objects in the scene. I have added simple point lights to be able to show the objects better in the scene.

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Objects - Chinook

Maya Pre Viz Objects Here is the chinook helicopter I have made for my pre viz animation. I really had to re think my approach on this model as I instantly started to do it with a lot of detail. Then I went back and deleted what I had done and made the shape out of a cube and a sphere. That was the main body which set the tone for me and got me to make the rest of the model in the same fashion. I like the simplicity of the model and it really looks like the chinook it is supposed to be.

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Scene

Maya Pre Viz Scene Here is the progression shots from creating the main scene for my pre viz animation. This was really fun to make as I could come up with the basic adaptation of a place that I have created so it is personal to me rather then following a tutorial... I think I have the scale right for all the objects in the scene; the tall buildings that line the horizon, the size of the docks and the small warehouses and buildings on it, the size if the beach and finally the mega lighthouse that brings a huge presence to the place. I have minimalised the details put into the objects and have placed a basic single colour lambert on them to resemble what they are.

BSW - CAA - Movie Scene Storyboard Practice

Movie Scene Storyboard Practice We were tasked with creating a storyboard for a scene of a film of our choice. I chose Greenland as my film as I watched it recently and have a good idea of the context of the scene. I chose the end scene where the outside world is revealed to the bunker settlers and they finally step outside. The scene at the end shows the world and the damage to the world after the meteors hit.

BSW - CAA - Maya Animation Tutorials

Maya Animation Tutorials These are the finished play blasts of the recent tutorials we have been completing in Maya. We have been learning the basics of animation in Maya including key frame and motion path animation. I have got to learn the graph editor more and I am confident in my knowledge of it to use it myself. I also have gained many ideas from doing these tutorials to add to my animation to make it better!

BSW - CAA - Maya Story Progression - Lighthouse Updated

Maya Story Progression Here is the new and improved lighthouse model for my pre viz animation. I really like how this looks in 3d and captures the presence and scale I wanted it too. I added more details then I probably should have for a pre viz however I thought for one of the main subject for my animation, it needed to look good! I gave the model basic Lambert and Blinn shaders giving it the colour I would want it to have if i was to make this story into a finalised animation.

BSW - CAA - Animatic for Original Idea

Animatic for Original Idea Here is the animatic for my original story idea. I have put all of the frames from my story board into premier pro and have put simple key frame and transition edits in to create the effect of camera movement and transition. I like how this has turned out however I would have put a lot more time into it if it were to be my final story. I wanted to finish it as I wanted to see a comparison when it comes to finishing my next one for the new plot.

BSW - CAA - Change Of Plans

1-2-1 With Justin After todays 1 - 2 - 1 with Justin, I realised just how bad my story writing abilities are. The main premise of the story was there however when explained to a fresh set of eyes, it really helped tighten up my story. Justin put a lot of logic into my story which meant changing a lot of it!  There is now no cannon, no COVID and the plot has drastically changed adding a whole new ending to the plot twist of revealing the movie scene. He has taken the ideas I had and made them more believable and into a whole better story line adding logic to make sense of the crazy ideas that I thought of before. So the story now is along the lines of this... The news is playing on a tv and it is showing the new ground breaking lighthouse. it shows its power and how it can change the world. its the only one of its kind. The shot zooms out and reveals the terrorist base looking dodgy and rough with cracked windows, poorly lit rooms and broken furniture everywhere. One of the t...

BSW - CAA - Audition Tutorial

Audition Tutorial Today I explored editing sound in audition using an mp4 file and putting appropriate sound effects in L and J cuts where needed. I enjoyed doing this task set and am growing more confident in sound design as I continue to practice and am happy enough to take my skills into the making of my pre viz animation.

BSW - CAA - Updated Story Board

Updated  Story Board Here are the pages of my finalised refined story board. I needed to go through the first one and refine the images to make the frames understandable and easy to view. I also added a new start to the story including context for the lighthouse. I added the reasons behind why it is key to the story as it was not clear before.  I am very happy with the style and the way in which it is finished. the only thing I'm not happy about is the time it took. I think this was due to a lack of motivation after I lost 2 hours worth of work after a lost save... I brought it back and finished the task in my own time doing other work in between. I am happy to take these frames into the next stage which is the animatic.
