BSW - CAA - Maya Forest - Pre Viz

Maya Forest - Pre Viz I have modelled the final scene for my pre-viz animation and can now focus on getting it done. This is the forest that shows up at the end of the animation on the beach where Finn finds his own species. I have left out the foliage as I still don't know how to best create it efficiently and well. The scene will be static however I will use the 3d to my advantage and create depth by zooming past trees, into the forest.

BSW - CAA - Maya Second Cactus Scene - Pre Viz

Maya Second Cactus Scene - Pre Viz  I really enjoyed creating this scene as I feel as though I am in the flow of modeling. I am getting my scenes done and am almost ready to start my pre-viz animation and set up for the final renders! I have made the scenes I have created close enough to the final scenes so I can just go back in, smooth, and detail them ready for the final renders.

BSW - CAA - Maya Mountain - Pre Viz

Maya Mountain - Pre Viz I have gone for a more pre-viz style on this scene for the animation as I want to save as much time as I can, and just show the flow of the animation. I have added simple cubes for the positions of the rocks in the scene and only one type of cacti for the previz. In the final rendition of the scenes, I will populate them more with the detail and textures that they require. This scene has a lot more length and depth as I wanted the feel of scale. I'm not sure if this will be the final rendition of the scene however I think it looks pretty good for now.

BSW - CAA - Maya Beach Inside Scene - Pre Viz

Maya Beach Inside Scene - Pre Viz I have modeled the inside scene for the beach scene for the previz animation. I like how this has turned out and am excited to see how it will look in the final animation when the textures are in and the bushes are modeled well. I have depth in the scene with the layers of the trees so I could have a zooming 'intro' to the scene, passing the trees as it zooms. I have added basic lamberts and at the moment I have intentionally left the scene sparse of trees and shrubs as I want the pre-viz to focus on what will happen in the animation.

BSW - CAA - Maya Beach Scene - Pre Viz

Maya Beach Scene - Pre Viz I have modelled my beach scene for my pre-viz animation. I like how I have done this scene as it looks like a pre viz that has been done quickly and efficiently but looks good and how it should, relative to the final animation. I didn't have much trouble modelling this either and got it done within 2 hours.

BSW - CAA - Character Design - Props and Surroundings

Character Design - Props and Surroundings Today we had the second lecture on character design and explored the props and surrounding and their functions and forms. This means we looked at how props relate to the character and how it follows its function. For example, a sword would be sharp and follow a theme of a character, or a house for a villain would not traditionally be bright and colorful... We were given a character and had to draw items associated with him, making sure they followed form. Then we drew the play they may stay, making sure it followed function. I enjoyed this exercise and went in with a more open mind also learning small tips on drawing in 3D. We are going to do a lesson in 3D drawing and perspective in the future. For this lesson, we worked traditionally which was nice as I have been working digitally a lot recently.   My Character was a cyberpunk detective.

BSW - CAA - Maya Finn Positions - Pre Viz

Maya Finn Positions - Pre Viz I have created the simple different positions I will use in my pre-viz animation. There is one for flying, one for standing, one for landing, and a couple for when the storm is throwing Finn about. I have added the basic Lambert textures resembling the colours that will be used on Finn in the final animation. I think it is going to look really good when the pre viz is finished and I hope that it all goes smoothly so I can get on with the final animation!

BSW - CAA - Finn The Finch Model - Pre Viz

Finn The Finch Model - Pre Viz This is the pre-viz model for my character Finn the Finch.  I will be adding a basic texture to him when doing the animation and will have a different pose for flying. I really want to be as efficient and quick as I can with this pre-viz as that is technically what it is supposed to be. I have enjoyed modeling this and have used all the skills I have learned previously to get a good model.

BSW - CAA - First Pre Viz Models - Galapagos Islands

Galapagos Islands Here is my first model for the pre-visualization for my educational video. I like how this has turned out and I hope they will serve a nice aesthetic for the finished pre-viz. I have used the top view for this model mainly as I could follow the top-down map orthography that I got from google images. I used a sphere, cut it in half, and manipulated the vertices to get the shape of the islands, then as it is a previz, I have installed a simple lambert for the sea and islands. Next up, I will model Finn the finch in pre-viz fashion.

BSW - CAA - Finn the Finch - Animatic

Finn the Finch - Animatic This is the animatic I have created for my animation Finn the Finch. I really like how this has turned out and I feel as though the animatic flows very well and is similar to how I want the final thing to look. I think I have got the timing really good and I am only 6 seconds over the 3-minute goal. I have added a simple wind sound to the animatic at the moment as I feel I wasn't ready for the correct sounds and didn't want to add random ones for the sake of getting it 'finished'.

BSW - CAA - Finn the Finch - Storyboard

Finn the Finch - Storyboard For the last ten days, I have been creating my over-ambitious storyboard for the animation Finn the Finch. I have actually enjoyed the process of making this and have not found myself at a block of any kind. I feel as though with this storyboard when I create the animatic, it will show all the details I want to for a completed animation. I chose to draw in a simple multitone style with a little colour and this made it easier to get through it quicker. I used some of my concept art in this storyboard to ensure I have the best quality work in the time I had.

BSW - CAA - Galapagos Concept Art

Galapagos Concept Art I have not posted for the last three days as I have been working on this triplet of concept arts for the scenes and style of the setting for my animation. I have done an establishing shot, maybe used for the opening scene. A beach scene that shows land and sea and a rocky mountainous scene. I wanted to show the different biomes of the islands and how they may tie into my animation. I really enjoyed making these drawings and liked learning the style more. I found using ALOT of layers helps when creating these drawings as you don't have the trouble of overlapping colours which saves a lot of time correcting mistakes. I actually went into google earth to find these shots and used them as a reference to create the drawings I did. Overall I like these concepts and they have gone the way I intended them to. It will be fun and interesting to see how I will translate the style into 3D and it will make me overcome problems and find solutions. This will hopefully not ...
