BSW - CAAyr2 - Head Model Complete

Head Model Complete I have completed the final part of the head model including cleaning up the geometry. The skull cap wraps around the head, bringing together the mesh and finalizing the head ready for the body to be modeled. I have really enjoyed this learning experience and have learned many new techniques to model. I didn't come across many issues as I have used my knowledge of all previous lessons to fix my own problems.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design - Main Character and Sidekick Finalisations

Main Character and Sidekick Finalisations   I have been working on the characters for the character bible project and have come up with the final variations of them. I will be using these designs in the further development of the project.  I originally drew out the character on the left in the image above but there was something about it that was off for me. This turned out to be the proportions so I rethought the designs and came up with the character on the right. Some changes I made were the arms, which the proportions changed massively and the joint area was made sense of. The body was thinned and finally, the hands were made more practical.  These are the different variations of the uniform for the main character. I really like how different they all are. I think I am leaning more towards the black and high viz yellow uniform as for one it is a personal preference and two I feel as though it will be a lot more efficient to draw than It comes to the storyboards and fi...

BSW - CAAyr2 - Film Review - Die Hard

Die Hard In this lesson, we watched Die Hard which is a 1988 action film. We focused on 3 and 5 act structures before the film started, trying to recognize the acts throughout.  The main character is a Ney York detective, John McClain, who visits Los Angeles to connect with his estranged wife. He goes to the party held by the wife's boss at their new company building. The building is then taken over by terrorists. The leader of these terrorists is Hans Gruber and he wants to steal 630 million dollars in untraceable bearer bonds that are held in the building's vault.

BSW - CAA - Film Review - The Princess Bride

The Princess  Bride In this lesson, we watched the 1987 romance and adventure film, The Princess Bride. for this film we focused on character archetypes. Archetypes are simply traits that are given to an identifiable character. In The Princess Bride, there are many character archetypes and to me, it resembles a more theater play than a film which can push those character traits more as the acting feels exaggerated. We were taught about the 12 Jungian archetypes. He says that everyone will fall into at least one of these archetypes based on that person's trait. Each human tends to have one dominant archetype of the 12 that defines our personality.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Bible Story

Character Bible Story This is the plot I have come up with for the story of my character bible project. I will include camera movements in red. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The story starts with static cameras showing the quiet, closed toy shop on a dark night. The camera shows the shelves loaded with toys and overarching shots of the store.  Suddenly a loud bang occurs that echoes through the store.  The bang turns out to be a robber that is trying to break into the shop. The camera switches to a close-up of the main character's head. The main character opens his eyes and looks towards the direction of the door, acknowledging the intruder.  The camera slowly zooms out to show the main character and the owl side by side. The duo starts to sneak through the darkness towards the door from their shelf which is at the opposite end of the shop. They come to their first hurdle of the story which is a break...

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Bible Progression

Character Bible Progression I completed a lot of work today to do with the progression of my story and setting for the character bible. I thought of the story further and came up with a solid plot for it. This plot will also make it a lot easier for me going into drawing the storyboards for the Bible. I gave more thought to the character's relationship and their traits, how they work together to make each one stand out more. For example, how the wise owl points out all the things that need to be done along their journey, then how the main character carries them out.  I did a concept drawing of the toy shop from a toy's perspective. I am going to take this drawing into photoshop to finalize it ready for the Bible itself. I thought of how the interior will look including the old-style wooden shelves, the old 80's style carpets, and the fact that all of the toys on the shelves will be boxed up and in the masses. In the Concept, you can see the fire alarm that is next to the ...

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks This week's tasks were very helpful towards learning the anatomy and form of the body of humans and animals. We had to act out certain poses and draw them in a very simple form, following the direction and flow of the shape that the body was making. We looked t where joints would be and how we could add to the skeleton-like drawing by looking further into shape theory. We then looked at drawing animal anatomy and I got a rabbit to research. The first drawing I did was quite good showing the bone structure and position of a rabbit standing up. However, after using a second image as a reference I messed up the form of the animal slightly making it look off. Then I chose a more dynamic pose to research and it turned out a lot better with a lot better understanding of joints and form.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Head Modelling 5

Head Modelling 5 I have been working on the nose of the model getting ready to move on to finalising the head. I understood what Alan was doing in the tutorials and followed it up well with my own model. I had to return at some parts where I got a bit lost however I am happy with how I did. It is not quite finished yet but I will be getting it done soon.

BSW - CAAyr2 - Character Design Sub Tasks

Character Design Sub Tasks We were tasked to give character to things that already existed. I was given the Guggenheim museum which is a very unique building already with a lot of character. I have given the prompt military so I thought of hard angles and uniformity, which is something this building did not have... When looking at the building for a while and thinking of the prompt I saw a battleship. With the long platform and the bridge-like feature, I figured that is what I will turn it into. I am happy with what I produced here letting myself be creative and lose which I am working very hard on. The main problem that Justin had with this is that it was unrealistic... It is more of a stylized piece rather than an actual thing people would work on and use, which is fine because it was not specified that realism was wanted. We were then tasked with creating an interior of a character given to us. Mine was an Aztec priest so I started researching what that entailed. They used to ...

BSW - CAAyr2 - Head Modelling 4

Head Modelling 4 I have moved on to working on the eye, following Alan's tutorial. Before Alan completed the eye, I watched and tried to complete myself to the best of my ability and when it came round to being finished, I rewatched the video and made minor tweaks as what I had done was very accurate to what Alan would go on to do himself! I am very happy although I am sure there will still be a lot of tweaking as I continue...
