BSW - CAA - Maya Lighting and Rendering Toolkit

Maya Lighting and Rendering Toolkit Below are renders of the continued lighting and rendering toolkit tutorial. I previously completed the lighting effects tutorial in this category but didn't get around to completing these videos. I found these tutorials easy to follow as a result of using the features over the last couple of projects and I understand them very well.

BSW - CAA - Final Animation and Reflective Statement

Reflective Statement I have thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating this project and everything that has come with it, including the problems, the stress, and the overall business, and the realization of how long it takes to create an animation, even if it is 3 minutes! I feel as though I have done really well in this project with my time management and overall product that's come out of it. I have overcome a lot of obstacles and have made a lot of progress in my knowledge of using Maya and Adobe software! I am really glad about it all and I hope you enjoy the animation below.   Final Animation

BSW - CAA - Animation Scenes Turnaround GIF

Animation Scenes Turnaround GIF I am glad that I created this cool GIF showing all the scenes from my animation in one smooth presentation. I Like how you can see the behind-the-scenes look on these models and see further how I may have created them.

BSW - CAA - Maya Animation Render issue

Maya Animation Render issue I want to talk about the issues I have had with rendering my animation. I have inserted a file showing clips from the Arnold rendered animation. You will notice the noise and grain also the harsh, sharp shadow produced by the bird. It doesn't look good at all and is definitely no the standard I want to be producing considering the amount of thought and work I have put in. I could go through the render settings, change the lighting, add lighting, and up the quality, etc. However, this would dramatically take a toll on the time it would take to render the scenes and I would simply not finish...  I had set up a meeting with Simon who saw the problems and agreed that it would take too long for the quality Id get. He told me that I could use the hardware renderer just like the game design course, and it would achieve much greater quality and would almost perfectly fit the simplistic cartoon style that my animation followed. I went through it and changed the s...

BSW - CAA - Maya Finches Rigged

Maya Finches Rigged I have finished rigging my birds for the final animation and I am really happy with the understanding and progress I have made whilst doing it. The birds move really well and I am excited to animate them in the animation. I watched the biped rigging tutorial again to refresh my memory and adapted it to create the bird-shaped rig. For the skinning, I had to ask Simon as the tutorial was not helping me at all. I now understand the basics of skinning and painting weights and can confidently do it independently for my model.

BSW - CAA - Maya Scene Texture Updates

Maya Scene Texture Updates I have now updated my textures for the scenes for the final animation. They are only subtle changes but differentiate between pre-viz and the final animation. I have made changes to the objects found in the scene and keeping objects the same nearer the background as it fits the stylized look I am going for. The beach scene is my favorite as it has a very effective simplistic style which is what I am trying to achieve in the end.

BSW - CAA - Maya Pre Viz Finally Complete!

Maya Pre Viz Finally Complete! I have finally completed the pre-viz that I have been working on for the past week. I have really enjoyed doing it and figuring out what will be best for the animation. I have spent a lot of time in the details and movement of the characters in the pre-viz as I want to go into the animation with as much information as I can so I will be at an advantage, not wondering what to do next. I really like how I have done the camera movements in the pre-viz as it fits the cinematic theme that I wanted to portray. I have ensured the camera is in the right places in the scenes, to show the information I want in the scenes.  The sounds were the last thing I completed and have spent a lot of time searching for the ones used however I am not sure whether some will change in the final rendition. I am also not sure if I will add music to the background.  Overall I am glad about the outcome of this pre-viz and am excited to see how it will portray the fina...

BSW - CAA - Maya Finch Variations - Pre Viz

Maya Finch Variations - Pre Viz I am currently working on my pre viz and have completed the first couple scenes and I am getting into the flow of it. I have just finished modeling the different variations in beaks for the different finches in the animation. I like how this has turned out and each finch has a uniqueness that will further stand out in the animation. Alongside the close-ups of the birds in the animation, I wanted something else to make them stand out. I changed the colors of the birds to a unique shade, matching their natural color in the wild. The main character Finn however has his own unique colors and patterns to further make him stand out as the protagonist.
